What risks can intermediaries take in the agriculture supply chain?

Asked 8 months ago

I briefly read about intermediaries in the agriculture supply chain and there was a short sentence stating that they can take risks. What are these risks that they can take?

Many intermediaries in the agricultural supply chain are exposed to risk, given the environmental and social challenges faced by the agriculture industry. These include climate change, deforestation & land use change, water use & pollution, and soil health & biodiversity.

Social challenges that pose a risk include livelihoods, working conditions, and land rights.

To address these risks, companies must adopt policies and practices that mitigate environmental and social impacts throughout their supply chains. In doing so, they can create a more sustainable and resilient agriculture sector.
